Summary
Cinematographer Herbert Ponting accompanied Capt. Robert Scott on his doomed 1910 expedition to the South Pole, and the result is this remarkable photographic diary. Not only did Scott discover that a Norwegian had beaten him to the finish line, but his entire party perished on the brutal return trip. Ponting's footage was re-edited into a documentary feature in 1933, with his own journal entries serving as poignant narration.
