Summary
Derek Jarman's 1989 film serves as a visual accompaniment to composer Benjamin Britten's orchestral composition, which blends the Latin Requiem Mass with the hard-hitting poetry of World War I Lt. Wilfred Owen. Making fervent condemnations of war, Britten's movements are reflected by visual tableaus featuring the likes of Laurence Olivier and Tilda Swinton, and tell the story of a soldier's (Nathaniel Parker) tribulations.
